MBS Contributions Uplift Community

MBS hosts and cohosts blues music events with local organizations to raise funds for important causes. From sending hurricne relief to New Orrleans to helping obtain music instruments for young future artists, MBS has built a legacy of positive action throughout Madison area communities. Below are a few key events held in previous years.

Hurricane Katrina Relief

January, 2006, MBS sponsored a show at the Harmony Bar with Hal Reed and the Mob and were able to send $1,900 to Tipitina Foundation for Hurricane Katrina relief. Folks who lost their homes and all their possessions, including many New Orleans area musicians, got much needed relief from this campaign.

Wild Women of hte Blues Events

For years MBS held the annual “Wild Women of the Blues” Events, bringing in outstanding performances to raise funds for important causes in the Madison area. Read about these annual events on the Bringing in Deb Seitz & The Swank Daddys in January 2007 for the “Wild Women of the Blues” event, MBS raised more than $1,200 for Family Enhancement. This organization partners with parents in their efforts to nurture, protect and teach their children successful skills and community values.

DAIS – Domestic Abuse Intervention Services

The 7th and 8th Annual Wild Women of the Blues events in 2014 and 2015 benefited Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS) in Dane County. This organization has been providing help to those in need for many years. Their new facility provides shelter and support for victims of this difficult and continuing problem in our community.

Family Enhancement

MBS brought in Deb Seitz & The Swank Daddys for the January 2007 “Wild Women of the Blues” event. The bands’ participation helped us raise more than $1,200.00 for Family Enhancement. This organization partners with parents in their efforts to nurture, protect and teach their children successful skills and community values.

MAMAs – Madison Area Music Awards

To support Madison area youth, MBS makes regular donations to the MAMAs (Madison Area Music Awards) to purchase instruments for school aged children. As part of their mission to promote music education for Madison’s kids, the MAMAs has also provided support for the “Blues Kids” programming.  With funding support from MAMAs,”Blues Kids” performed at the National Night Out Event at Penn Park, attended by many community leaders, making a significant impact on recognition of Blues Music in our community.
