Blythe Gamble is a powerhouse vocalist and songwriter rooted in Madison, Wisconsin’s vibrant music scene. Known for her dynamic stage presence and emotionally charged performances, she brings a rare blend of grit, resilience, and soul to every show. Music has been part of her life since childhood, performing alongside her father and discovering early on that the stage felt like home.

Early Life

Blythe’s story is marked by extraordinary medical challenges and remarkable survival. Born with a rare heart defect, doctors told her parents she would not live past age 13. At just 10 years old, she underwent a groundbreaking heart surgery performed by a German surgeon who had attempted the procedure only six times before. The operation was a miracle success, allowing Blythe to grow into a healthy, active life and pursue her passion for music.

Early Career & Musical Journey

In 1994, Blythe left Wisconsin to chase her musical ambitions. Her powerful vocals led her to collaborate and perform with notable artists and bands across the United States, including:

  • Zena the Mojo Mama in Memphis
  • Curly Smith of Boston
  • Dokken, George Lynch, and The Lynch Mob

She also maintained a solo career from age 17, busking in San Diego and Phoenix, and opening for major acts such as Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, No Doubt, and Gravity Kills.

Her life has included profound personal loss — the death of her husband and the passing of her youngest daughter, Rosa, one of the first infants in the world to receive a heart and double-lung transplant. These experiences deeply shaped her songwriting, infusing her music with raw honesty and emotional depth.

After her children’s health struggles, Blythe returned to Milwaukee, working as a chef and forming the rock band Solsafire, which ran for six years. She later moved to Portage and eventually settled in Madison, where her blues and rock identity fully blossomed.
